Free Far North Snorkel Days

The Experiencing Marine Reserves (EMR) programme will be hosting FREE Community Guided Snorkel Days in the Far North this January at Tapotupotu estuary and Maitai Bay.

The event is in partnership with the Department of Conservation and funded by the Tindall Foundation and DOC Community Fund.

This is a great whanau friendly event and opportunity to learn more about the marine environment and how to snorkel.

On Monday the 16th Jan we will explore the unique Tapotupotu estuary. Participants will get up and close to mangroves and may see spotties, triple fins, nesting mussels and flounder. The backup day date is Tuesday the 17th Jan. Register at the event on the day from 10.30am -1.30pm.

  • Recommended for everyone 5 years and up.  All children under 15 years must be accompanied by an adult beach observer. 
  • Experienced guides and advanced safety procedures will be in place on the day.
  • Koha/donations are welcome.
